Edgardo Yambao, the brother-in-law of former military comptroller Lt. Gen. Jacinto Ligot, was grilled during a Senate hearing on Thursday because of the supposed P255-million deposits to his bank accounts from 2001 to 2005. Sen. Franklin Drilon said records of the Anti-Money Laundering Council show that peso and dollar deposits were allegedly made to Yambao's accounts.


President Benigno Aquino III has yet to decide on what position will be given to formerstate auditor and whistle-blower Heidi Mendoza.


The wife of former military comptroller Lt. Gen. Jacinto Ligot once sold a house in the United States to herself.

This was revealed Thursday during the resumption of the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on the alleged corruption in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Even before the senators could question her, the wife of former military comptroller Lt. Gen. Jacinto Ligot broke down and was escorted out of the Senate inquiry on Thursday.


The Philippine military on Wednesday sent an aircraft to the disputed Reed Bank near Palawan after receiving a report that Chinese patrollers were trying to harass some Filipino oil explorers in the area.
